Having someone to look up to that looks like you makes all the difference!
I am excited to be an Honoree Sponsor of the New Mexico Tech Council 2023 Women in Tech Awards on March 9th! I have sponsored this event for the past several years because I believe it is important for women to support other women, particularly in fields where we are in the minority.
Before I became a Financial Advisor I worked in a number of different STEM fields: as an Astrophysicist, a software engineer, and a systems analyst and program manager in the defense industry. In all that time I was very often the only female in the room, on the team, or in the lead.
Always having to fight for recognition and support because you are different is exhausting and demoralizing.
Women are also far outnumbered by men in financial services, but I have found other women to partner with, support, and be supported by, relationships I rely on every day. When we help each other out, we all do better.
