Chapter I: Our Purpose

Wealth Management with a Personal Touch

Equila’s Full-Service Wealth Management service combines in-depth financial planning with ongoing portfolio investment and management and regular check-ins, ensuring that your strategy adapts as your life and the markets change. Whether you’re focused on growth, income, asset preservation, or a blend of all three, this service offers the consistency, accountability, and expertise to keep your goals in focus. We watch over your money while you live your life.

Chapter II: Benefits

Your Financial Life, Fully Integrated

With our Full-Service Wealth Management offering, you’re not just getting an investment manager, you’re gaining a financial partner who sees your big picture. With a clear financial plan at the center, Ann makes sure your investments stay aligned with your values and your life, keeping you on track to reach your goals. We keep up with the ever-changing rules and regulations in critical financial areas like taxes and retirement savings, so you get the most up to date advice that fits your specific situation. And you can leave the details like account paperwork, required minimum distributions, and tax planning to us, that’s what “full-service” means at Equila.

Planning to Meet Financial Goals

In addition to a personalized investment portfolio to support your goals, your financial plan may include tax and estate planning, retirement income strategies, risk management considerations, and cash flow analysis. Each component is thoughtfully aligned to support the bigger picture of your financial life. This integration helps prevent missed opportunities and ensures your money is working as efficiently as possible for you.

Responsive Risk Management Strategy

As your life and goals evolve, the risks you are exposed to will change, as will the best responses to manage those risks. A portfolio that builds wealth in your working years will likely be too volatile to properly support income needs in retirement. Insurance designed to take care of young children should something happen to you is no longer necessary when they are out on their own. Ann will help you choose the appropriate risk management solutions for your life situation.

Confidence Through Consistency

With ongoing monitoring and timely adjustments, you can be confident that your plan and your investments are staying aligned with both market conditions and your evolving priorities. Ann’s disciplined process means that you’re not reacting to short-term volatility but are instead positioned for long-term success—giving you peace of mind through every stage of life, from career growth to retirement and beyond.

Chapter III: Our Approach

A Personalized Approach for Long-Term Success

Every client relationship at Equila begins with understanding your complete financial picture – your resources, responsibilities, and dreams. Ann then designs a customized plan that integrates all the elements of your financial life and provides a clear set of next steps. Full-Service Wealth Management takes care of the investing next step with the implementation and ongoing management of your recommended portfolio.

Establish Investing Objectives

We begin by identifying what you want your money to achieve—growth, income, asset preservation, or a blend of all three—so your portfolio reflects your goals and supports the life you want to build.

Determine Risk Target

Understanding your comfort with risk is essential. Ann helps clarify your tolerance, risk capacity, and risk need—the “three-legged stool” that balances how much risk you can, should, and want to take on.

Identify Investing Preferences

Your values and preferences matter. Whether it’s socially responsible investing, specific industries to avoid, or a desire for simplicity, Ann incorporates your personal priorities so your portfolio feels right for you.

Confirm Final Portfolio

Ann develops a proposal that identifies her recommended investment approach, compares that to your existing approach, and gives you an idea of expected performance during a range of market circumstances. If necessary, adjustments are made until you are comfortable with moving forward.

Implement the Investment Approach

Once your portfolio is agreed upon, we put it into action. Ann manages the transition carefully, ensuring investments are allocated efficiently and responsibly, with attention to costs, timing, and tax implications.

Monitor and Rebalance

Your portfolio is actively monitored and periodically rebalanced to remain aligned with your targets. Regular reviews help your investments stay on track—even as markets shift and your personal circumstances evolve.

Chapter IV: FAQs

Your Questions Answered

When you join Equila as a Wealth Management client, we will walk you through the transition process, step by step, making sure you understand all the details of our processes. Some of the most important things to know:

What types of investments do you use in client portfolios?

We use low-cost mutual funds and exchange traded funds (ETFs) in our investing models, building diversified portfolios that rely on a combination of passive funds that provide full market coverage where appropriate, with “best of breed” active managers with more focused objectives. No fads and no gimimicks.

All client assets are held at Charles Schwab on the institutional side, in accounts in the clients’ name; Equila never takes custody of your assets.

Fees are calculated as a percentage of total assets under our management, using a tiered structure with rates that drop as the balance increases; they are taken directly from the accounts, quarterly in advance.

Your engagement with Equila can be terminated at any time, our contract has no minimum required period, and any unearned fees will be rebated.

We follow a specific process for developing and implementing your personalized investment portfolio, parts of which may be executed as part of the initial financial planning process.

Interlude: How We Can Help

Wondering About Your Investments?

There are some basic characteristics of a good investment portfolio that apply in most cases, including diversification, low fees, clarity of purpose, and transparency. While it would take a Financial Planning engagement to identify an optimal portfolio specific to your needs, an initial “Get Acquainted” meeting can provide a general review of your current portfolio and some feedback on any issues that might be apparent.
